Move From Your Starting Point

All of us have goals and aspirations. Whether we follow through on achieving them is another story. But for those who make that single crucial decision to go after their goals or dreams, they must have a starting point. Where is your starting point?

Many years ago a supervisor who recognized my ability to look at things in a positive light called me into his office and said he wanted to share something with me. He shared something with me that frankly I would never expect a supervisor to share with their direct reports or anyone else in the company for that matter. He told me that he was having some struggles with his bosses. The people who he reported to have lost confidence in him. He tried to explain how much he is worth to them to no avail. He did not know what to do.

So I told him, where you find yourself right this minute is your starting point. Take look at your current situation. It might not be a pretty picture. It might be depressing taking stock of the place you find yourself in at this very moment. But, once you draw that line and make this your starting point, you can improve. You can make it better. You don’t have to stay here. You are starting here to get better.

We can do the same in our lives. Perhaps your starting point is thousands of dollars in debt. That means your starting point is in the red! It might be depressing to see your financial situation in the red. But your objective is to be in the black. Draw that line. Do you continue to rack up debt or do you determine to start eliminating those debt and move from your starting point towards the Black? However little you eliminate, you are moving away from it.

People do not like to take an honest look at themselves for the same reason some people do not like to go to the doctor. They fear the results. They fear the bad news. So they rather stick their heads in the sand of their lives and ignore the problem and the problem just keeps growing. It takes courage to stop and take stock of where you are. It is not easy thing. No one likes to look at their life and find they are failing.

When you do get tired of a failing life however, you will ignore the disappointments, regrets, depression or any other negative feeling that comes along with your current situation and face it. Face it courageously and tell yourself, I will move from this starting point! Where I am is not where I will remain. I will get better and put actions to my decree. I am moving on from this starting point!

6 Ways To Be Inspired To Go For It

I really don’t know if you have any interest in this sport, but I hope you do take the time to see what you can capture from this story. The 2013 NFL football season is now underway and there is a lot on the line.

Approximately 74,000 fans packed Miami Dolphin’s arena on Sunday February 7th 2010 to see the Indianapolis Colts battle the New Orleans Saints for Super Bowl XLIV. In addition to that, millions viewed by television, and on the internet.

These two teams went after a major title in the sports world, but only one came out on top. Both of them did well throughout the regular season but it wasn’t necessarily easy as each week they had to fight off opponents.

Now it was one more opponent standing between them and this major goal of becoming champion. Both of them realized that in order to win they had to show up and play their hearts out. I believe as game time drew near coaches and players motivated and encouraged their team by saying “It’s Time To Go For It.” I’ll get back to that in a minute.

I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward. – Philippians 3:14 (Amplified Bible)

As you embrace the times ahead, God has placed some major goals before you. But are you going to take advantage of the opportunity. From that biblical quote, that word “press” means that you will have opposing forces.

In the midst of opposing forces I tell you “It’s time to go for it”. If you set it you can get it. Your greatest enemy is not the devil, co-workers, family, or even your boss. I don’t regret telling you this but YOU are your greatest enemy. Why do I say that? Because any time God put something in your heart You make up excuses, You procrastinate; You say I’ll do it later, You say I can’t get no help. Then when You don’t perform or get it You blame everybody else.

I want to help you with 6 things that can help you Go for it:

1. Readjust- There are times when you just have to take another approach and shift, change direction, try another method in order to get the results you need.

2. Reset – I’m sure you are familiar with losing power at home which means that you have to reset your clock. This is important if you are going to keep up with the timing of society. Even more important spiritually is to be able to keep up with God’s time flow.

3. Reflect – look at where you came from. This is what gives you the strength to face the challenges you now face because if God did it before he can do it again.

4. Refocus – With so many distractions and temptations around you need something that will help you get back on course. There is nothing better than the Word of God.

5. Renew – Yes that same feeling you get after taking a bath or shower. It makes you feel new, clean, fresh and ready to go again. The renewing of your mind is important to get your thinking on the right track.

6. Rejoice- In order to keep your joy in life you have to celebrate. Life will have many disappointments but you have to stir up the strength and find a reason to rejoice.

Meanwhile back to Super Bowl XLIV, New Orleans Saints first time in and a new opportunity to make history for their city and State. Initially down by 10 points and not being the favored team can be a challenge. You have to love the fighting spirit of this team as they didn’t let a slow start stop them. A great team effort from The Who Dat Nation lead by quarterback Drew Brees. So it was the New Orleans Saints that overcame the favored Colts 31 – 17.

So what exactly am I saying? I expect God to bring you into some first time opportunities. I believe you can get some great results if you just know how to keep you goals on track. When the opportunity comes “Go 4 It”, everyone will know your name when they ask the question “Who Dat?”

The Value Of Patience Or The Advanced Principles Of Honesty

Think! Life is work when you have to earn your way through. When you do though, it is totally worth it and nobody can genuinely take it away from you. With that meant and hopefully understood, I begin this article. Sure, I could make things more complicated seeming than values of patience, honesty, hard work and all the other earned values that make a good existence that works. Face it though, indeed, that is it. There is not any getting around reality. None.

The reality of from the essence creativity, is that it is hard work, patience and a genuine time and spiritual investment that takes a lot of things that need to be done with leisure and doing what we want to do coming after that investment takes root in the essential idea. Skill is developed, not given so much. The root of the skill or talent may be given, still work needs to be done patiently to genuinely develop repeatable mastery, though. After all that is genuinely and time developed though, that is where the seeming ease and speedy mastery comes in. Hence, the saying “It takes a long time to make an overnight success.” Failure and fraud only comes through destructively skipping these steps and practicing irrational theft or attempting cheating. If found out, the cheating is not successful it is only an attempt and not successful and as is said, there is only a such thing as the perfect virtue (patient development and hard work), not the perfect crime (“successful” cheating, stealing or fraud). Faking it until making it does not really work ultimately. Building values from the ground up always does even if the work of mastery and honesty are hard at the beginning of the work. To build anything meaningful, this work needs to be done or the consequences of faking it and fraud are dire and bad.

With the above said: The way to make good consequences is to start from the bottom and work honestly to the top in a genuinely masterful way that embraces the essential good work that is needed to make a great creation instead of “faking it to make it”. Indeed, truth be told honestly: A great foundation and great building leads to great results, a bad foundation and a good foundation leads to bad results, and a bad foundation and bad building leads to bad results. Read that last part carefully for the first answer about the structure of results in anything is the right one, and the last two answers about the structure of results in anything are the wrong ones. The building idea is only a metaphorical vehicle, but, the only correct answer is that if we build a great structure or result we get a great structure or result all around. Without that patience and honesty to do that, everything is bad. In all reality, mastery and being a master of anything starts out hard work. It becomes second nature reality, and we grow on from there to our next phase or stand still and die eventually in “ease” and “retirement”. Existence constantly exists, so we must give it the best we can give it.

STEP II Bridge To The Real World

When an activity professional conducts an activity program there is a methodical outline that one follows. The outline is a format, so that the activity person creates a successful program for their clients. This same method applies to the remotivation sessions because there are five steps that are involved with it. In this article, I will deal with Step II then describe how it works.

In Step II that is called “A Bridge to the Real World”. The facilitator use questions to lead the group to the topic and poem where the topic is objective in nature. The questions that are used in Step 2 are called bounce questions. The bounce questions are a set of questions that logically guide the clients from one topic to another. When writing out the session the questions and answers a pre-determined. The questions that the remotivation therapist asks is similar to the ones used in every day conversations.

The leader asks a minimum of three questions or a maximum of four questions; where each set of questions has four possible answers. Although the clients may reply with another answer that you did not anticipate but that is acceptable. Below is an example of Step II where there are four questions that lead to the topic and the poem for the session.

STEP II ” A Bridge to The Real World”

A. What are the four seasons in the year?

1. Winter

2. Summer

3. Spring

4. Fall

B. What is special about summer?

1. Heat

2. Warmth

3. Nice weather

4. Outdoors

C. What type of outdoor activity can you do?

1. Swim

2. Fish

3. Eat food

4. Golf

D. What type of activity is associated with food?

1. I don’t know

2. Picnic

3. Barbeques

4. Outdoor snacks

At the conclusion of Step II, the facilitator reads a poem about a barbeque. Then leads the group into the topic of the day, which for this article is about barbeques.

As you can see by the above example one of the answers leads to another set of question that eventually leads to the poem and topic for the session.

In Step 2, the facilitator draws the client out of his wounded area by focusing on the unwounded aspect of his mind. The Remotivation Therapist are able to redirect the client to discuss about every day objects instead of dealing and focusing on their limitations. The leader is able to draw the clients out of themselves. This is one step in a step of five in a remotivation therapy session that assist the residents with cognitive deficits and physical limitations to increase their self-esteem.
